Prescott the Author

Early in childhood I used to love to crawl up on the weekends my comics and notebooks and lose myself in stories. Though film has been my primary medium since college for sharing stories, I never lost my love of how books can transport a reader. This early love of comics and reading has come to wonderful life in my graphic novel series The Pathfinder's Society.

But what has made The Pathfinders Society series even more rewarding was being able to go on this journey with my cowriter (and dearest friends), Francesco. The journey of telling the Pathfinder's story has allowed us to explore themes I've always loved: adventure, discovery, history, mystery, with touches of magic and fantasy.

The page below is dedicated to the individual books and to hear a bit more about the inspiration behind the series

The Pathfinder's Society Book 1:

The Mystery of the Moon Tower

Kyle is a new kid in town who likes to draw. Vic is a cool cheerleader who's secretly a math whiz. Quiet Beth is a history buff, while goofball Harry likes performing magic tricks, with the help of his patient wingman, Nate. Five kids unlikely to form a team, for sure.

But then they're thrown together at summer camp, where they watch a grainy old movie about the history of their town, Windrose, and one of its illustrious citizens of a bygone era: the intrepid explorer-inventor Henry Merriweather. He's the one who established their camp. Merriweather's Camp Pathfinders' motto? Plus Ultra: more beyond!

The Pathfinder's Society Book 2:

The Curse of the Crystal Cavern

Fresh from their hair-raising adventures in The Mystery of the Moon Tower, Kyle, Vic, Beth, Harry, and Nate are now hot on the trail of something big! A secret staircase leads down into the unknown, setting them on an exciting chase for clues left by the wealthy explorer Henry Merriweather, who was rumored to have hidden away a priceless treasure. Are the legends real? Where will the five friends end up? And what dangers will they encounter along the way? Because as they’ve come to learn, everything comes at a price…

The Pathfinder's Society Book 3:

The Legend of the Lost Boy

In their newest adventure, the Pathfinders are in for a wild time–literally! Unwittingly transported fifty years into the past, Kyle, Vic, Harry, Beth, and Nate desperately try to find a way back to their own time while attempting to avoid questions about who–and from when–they are. A mysterious map and a reckless river journey takes them straight into danger and beyond, where the present and the past collide in otherworldly ways. Will the Pathfinders find their way home, or will they be trapped in this not-so-groovy era forever?

Reviews

“Sedita and Seraydarian’s plot packs a ton of humor, mystery, and action to enthrall fans of fantastical fun adventures. Hamaker’s artwork, meanwhile, offers just the right amount of zany energy in its paneling and its eye-catching use of colors and secondary details. Marvelously clever and cool.”

        -- Kirkus Reviews

"The Mystery of the Moon Tower is beautifully drawn and thrillingly plotted! The story is an Indiana Jones style adventure starring a band of sweet outcasts. This first book in The Pathfinders Society series made me want to join right in!"

-- Brian Selznick, Caldecott Medal winner and creator of The New York Times bestsellers The Invention of Hugo                         Cabret and Wonderstruck.

"A fun mystery adventure in the the mode of Goonies or Stranger Things, with appealing artwork that glows and bring the book alive!"

-- Jeff Smith, creator of The New York Times bestselling, award-winning BONE graphic novel series.
