Prescott the Filmmaker

My primary academic training and my professional work for the better part of my life has been as a filmmaker.  I successfully ran my own production company for several decades which gave me the amazing opportunity to work on a wide variety of artistic productions, corporate content, music videos, short form documentaries, commercials, and educational film productions.

In my films I seek to utilize powerful production tools to share moving stories, connect communities, and, of course, to have some fun.

Here are a few highlights of some of this work.

Plum shoot (with Sean Hayes)

Here's a super-fun project I directed with the tremendously talented (& hilarious!) Sean Hayes & Scott Icenogle for their picture book "Plum".  In the spot Sean and Scott land the gig of a lifetime when they get the call to teach a kids’ ballet class…and share the true story of how the Sugar Plum Fairy got her wings from their picture book, PLUM.

"Mind the Light" -- Holiday Greetings from George School

This was a wonderful experience that I conceived of & directed. It features members of the George School community expressing their thanks at the holiday season. Inspired by our school motto “Mind the Light,” this holiday greeting celebrates the magic of light as it illuminates a multitude of community members sharing personal points of gratitude.

Rancho Obi-Wan: the greatest Star Wars collection ever!

I, like many of my generation, were helpless to the power of Star Wars growing up. It gave me the power to dream and see stories as way to understand the world and myself. So it was a joy and honor to be able to produce this film of Steve Sansweet's Rancho Obi-wan Star Wars museum during my amazing time at Mimoco.

I consider Steve a friend and can only imagine what his collection is like these days!

For me, film is the most potent of the arts. It's potential to draw an audience in and lead them through a story is unparalleled.

It's a magic trick really, by combining moving images and evocative sound it can transport and move you in ways that feel like magic... plus there is always more to explore and learn. I love it.
