That's me! Back in the day at Breezy Point summer camp.
For many people, myself included, summer camp is a magical place where amazing memories are formed. Where campers have to step outside of their comfortable lives and embark on new experiences with new people. Francesco and I found ourselves lost after developing our story in a different direction, once we moved the story to camp invigorating new paths emerged and an amazing adventure was born.
Although I wasn't lucky enough to experience time-travelling paths, like the Pathfinder characters, in hindsight camp did offer me a new connection to time. By participating in camp traditions and learning new skills, I felt connected to those that have come before and others who would come follow me into the future. This connection to time and also the natural world are the some of the primary seeds of our story.

Camp
The theme of "finding your path" was also especially important in regards to the age of our characters, since they are at a challenging crossroads between childhood and adult. Finding your way through that mysterious and often exciting transition became pivotal to fuel some of the drama and decision that the character navigate in the series. It's a time when everything is important and little makes sense. The challenges are real and the consequences feel life-changing.

The original Pathfinders lived by a code, timeless values predicated on knowing yourself and the world around you. The current Camp Pathfinders tries to instill to all of it campers. They feel, and so do I, that if you can learn skills to tune in, you can find a path through any challenge and develop an appreciation for the adventure of the natural world.
Teaching young people to "tune" is the mission of Camp Pathfinder, and we hope that 'Future 'Finders can be inspired by this call to adventure as well.
